Citicoline (as Sodium)

 The First Oral Tablet Containing Citicoline Sodium in Iran

Citicoline is a molecule formed in the body as an intermediate in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine from choline. It possesses a wide range of activities, including promoting the restoration of damaged cell membranes, inhibiting the action of phospholipases, preventing excessive formation of free radicals and cell destruction, and affecting the mechanisms of apoptosis. Citicoline decreases glutamate levels in the brain and increases adenosine triphosphate, which protects against ischemic neurotoxicity.

• The sodium salt of citicoline improves the solubility of this compound compared to citicoline acid, which may enhance its absorption.

Dosage form: Oral film-coated tablets containing 250mg/500mg Citicoline as Sodium in each tablet.

Indications:

*Helps to improve cognitive and neurological disorders related to brain injuries and strokes.
* Protects brain cells from cognitive decline related to aging, Alzheimer’s, and dementia.
* Improves vision in patients with glaucoma

Direction For Use:

The daily dose of this product is specified by your physician, preferably in the morning and afternoon with or without a meal, but the usual dose:

• 250 mg tablets: Take 1 to 2 tablets twice a day
• 500 mg tablets: Take 1 to 2 tablets, once or twice a day

Adverse Effects: The common side effects of using this product are not known. This product may cause some uncommon and unwanted side effects including sleep disorder (insomnia), mild headache, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, blurred vision, chest pain, and hypotension.

Drug Interactions:

It may interact with the following drugs:

Carbidopa, Levodopa, and Entacapone.

Pregnancy and Lactation: Due to a lack of data, the use of this product is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Storage: Store below 25°C. Protect from heat, moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of the reach of children.

Packaging: Each box contains 30 oral tablets and a leaflet.
